‘Adjective Clause’ – First Group

Relative Pronoun
पहिल्या गटाची Relative Pronouns

पहिल्या गटाच्या Relative Pronouns मध्ये that, which, who, whom, whose या Pronouns चा समावेश होतो.

पहिल्या गटाच्या Relative Pronoun पासून सुरु झालेल्या Subordinating Clause चा संबंध जर एखाद्या Noun शी येत असेल, तरच त्या गटांतील शब्दाला Relative Pronoun असे म्हणतात.

परंतु हा Subordinating Clause जर एखाद्या Transitive Verb ला जोडलेला असेल, तर मात्र या शब्दाला Relative Pronoun असे न म्हणता Subordinating Conjunction असे म्हणतात.

For example (उदाहरणार्थ),
  • The house that he built collapsed yesterday.
  • त्याने बांधलेले घर काल कोसळले.

वरील वाक्यामध्ये ‘The house collapsed yesterday’ आणि ‘he built’ या दोन वाक्यांमधील परस्परसंबंध दर्शविण्यासाठी that (दॅट्) हे Relative Pronoun वापरलेले आहे. त्यामुळे, या संपूर्ण जोडवाक्याला Complex Sentence म्हणजेच मिश्र वाक्य समजावे.

तसेच, ‘that he built’ हा संपूर्ण शब्दसमूह house या नामाचे विशेषण म्हणून वापरलेला असल्यामुळे या शब्दसमूहाला Adjective Clause असे म्हणतात.

Main Clause:

अशाप्रकारे Relative Pronoun जेव्हा मध्यभागी वाक्यातील Main Verb नंतर तिसऱ्या स्थानी येते, तेव्हा त्याच्या डाव्या बाजूला असलेला संपूर्ण शब्दसमूह हा Main Clause असतो.

Subordinating Clause:

तसेच, Relative Pronoun च्या उजव्या बाजूला असलेला संपूर्ण शब्दसमूह हा Subordinating Clause असतो.
