Adjective of Number

Numeral Adjective हे नेहमी संख्येत मोजता येणाऱ्या म्हणजे Countable Noun (काउंटेबल् नाऊन) ला जोडून वापरलेले असते.

वाक्यातील व्यक्ती किंवा गोष्टी यांचा उल्लेख करताना त्या किती व्यक्ती आहेत किंवा किती गोष्टी आहेत, हे जेव्हा सांगायचे असते, तेव्हा Numeral Adjective चा उपयोग केला जातो.

वाक्यामध्ये वापरलेले Numeral Adjective हे एकतर Definite (निश्चित) असते किंवा Indefinite (अनिश्चित) असते.

Definite Numeral Adjective

Definite Numeral Adjective (डेफिनेट न्यूमरल ऍड्जेक्टिव्ह) म्हणजे निश्चित संख्यादर्शक विशेषण होय.

Definite Numeral Adjective मध्ये Cardinal (कार्डिनल्) म्हणजे क्रम आणि Ordinal (ऑर्डिनल्) म्हणजे संख्या अशा दोन प्रकारच्या विशेषणांचा समावेश होतो.

For example (उदाहरणार्थ),

seven	cardinal	There are seven days in a week. (आठवड्यामध्ये सात दिवस असतात.)
seventh	ordinal	Saturday is the seventh day of the week. (शनिवार हा आठवड्याचा सातवा दिवस आहे.)
two	cardinal	Teacher asked me two questions. (शिक्षकांनी मला दोन प्रश्न विचारले.)
second	ordinal	I knew the answer of the second question. (मला दुसऱ्या प्रश्नाचे उत्तर माहित होते.)
six	cardinal	There are six balls in an over. (एका षटकात सहा चेंडू असतात.)
sixth	ordinal	He hit a boundary on the sixth ball of the over. (त्याने षटकातील सहाव्या चेंडूवर चौकार मारला.)

Indefinite Numeral Adjective

Indefinite Numeral Adjective (इंडेफिनेट न्यूमरल ऍड्जेक्टिव्ह) म्हणजे अनिश्चित संख्यादर्शक विशेषण होय.

Indefinite Numeral Adjective हे नेहमी एखाद्या Countable (काउंटेबल्) म्हणजे संख्येत मोजता येणाऱ्या Common Noun ला जोडून वापरलेले असते.

Indefinite Numeral Adjective मध्ये some, enough, all, no, none, many, few, several या Adjectives चा समावेश होतो.

• Several candidates had attended the interview.
• अनेक उमेदवार मुलाखतीसाठी उपस्थित राहिले होते.

Example 2

• Some men die young.
• काही माणसे तरूणपणी मृत्युमुखी पडतात.

Example 3

• There were enough people at the conference.
• परिषदेला पुरेसे लोक आले होते.
