Noun Clause आणि Adjective Clause च्या रचनांप्रमाणेच Adverb Clause (अॅड्व्हर्ब क्लॉज्) ची रचना सुद्धा Complex Sentence (मिश्र वाक्य) ची समजली जाते.
Adverb Clause ची रचना असलेल्या Complex Sentence मधील दोन वेगवेगळी वाक्ये एकत्र जोडण्यासाठी ज्या शब्दाचा उपयोग करतात, त्याला Subordinating Conjunction असे म्हणतात.
Adverb Clause मधील ज्या वाक्याच्या आरंभी Subordinating Conjunction वापरलेले असते, त्या वाक्याला Subordinating Clause (गौणवाक्य) असे म्हणतात, तर उरलेल्या वाक्याला Main Clause (मुख्यवाक्य) असे म्हणतात.
Adverb Clause ची विभागणी प्रामुख्याने आठ प्रकारांमध्ये केलेली आहे.

कालवाचक क्रियाविशेषणात्मक गौणवाक्य

Adverb Clause of Place
स्थलवाचक क्रियाविशेषणात्मक गौणवाक्य
यांमध्ये where, wherever, whence इत्यादी Subordinating Conjunctions चा उपयोग केलेला असतो.
Adverb Clause of Purpose
हेतूदर्शक क्रियाविशेषणात्मक गौणवाक्य
यांमध्ये that, so that, lest इत्यादी Subordinating Conjunctions चा उपयोग केलेला असतो.
Adverb Clause of Reason or Cause
कारणदर्शक क्रियाविशेषणात्मक गौणवाक्य
यांमध्ये because, as, since इत्यादी Subordinating Conjunctions चा उपयोग केलेला असतो.
Adverb Clause of Condition
अटवाचक क्रियाविशेषणात्मक गौणवाक्य

यांमध्ये though, although, even though इत्यादी Subordinating Conjunctions चा उपयोग केलेला असतो.
