Analysis of Complex Sentence आणि Noun Clause हे विषय आधी समजून घ्यावेत, जेणेकरून Noun Clause as Object of Preposition समजून घेणे अधिक सोपे होईल.
Noun Clause as Object of Preposition
इंग्रजी व्याकरणातील Complex Sentence (कॉम्प्लेक्स सेन्टेन्स) मध्ये जे गौणवाक्य noun म्हणून वापरलेले असते, त्याला Noun Clause (नाऊन क्लॉज्) म्हणजेच नामवाचक गौणवाक्य असे म्हणतात.
अशा Noun Clause चा उपयोग वाक्यामध्ये जेव्हा एखाद्या preposition ला जोडून केलेला असतो, तेव्हा त्या Noun Clause ला Noun Clause as Object of Preposition (नाऊन क्लॉज् ऍज् ऑब्जेक्ट ऑफ प्रेपोझिशन) म्हणजेच नामवाचक गौणवाक्य (शब्दयोगी अव्ययाचे कर्म) असे म्हणतात.
‘Main Clause’ आणि ‘Subordinating Clause’
Complex Sentence मधील दोन वेगवेगळी वाक्ये एकत्र जोडण्यासाठी एखाद्या Subordinating Conjunction चा उपयोग केलेला असतो.
अशा वाक्यातील Subordinating Conjunction ने सुरू होणाऱ्या वाक्याला गौणवाक्य असे म्हणतात, तर दुसऱ्या वाक्याला मुख्यवाक्य असे म्हणतात.
गौणवाक्याला इंग्रजी व्याकरणामध्ये Subordinating Clause (सबॉर्डिनेटिंग् क्लॉज्) असे म्हणतात.
तसेच, मुख्यवाक्याला इंग्रजी व्याकरणामध्ये Main Clause (मेन क्लॉज्) किंवा Principal Clause (प्रिन्सिपल क्लॉज्) असे म्हणतात.
Noun Clause as Object of Preposition ची रचना
Noun Clause as Object of Preposition ची रचना नेहमी एखाद्या Complex Sentence मध्ये वापरलेली असते.
या रचनेत Subordinating Conjunction पासूनच्या Subordinating Clause चा संबंध Main Clause मधील Preposition शी असतो.
तसेच, या संपूर्ण Subordinating Clause ला त्या Preposition चे Object समजले जाते.
वाक्यातील Preposition ला जोडून वापरलेला Subordinating Clause हा केवळ त्या Preposition मुळे Noun Clause म्हणून ओळखला जातो.
For example (उदाहरणार्थ),
- I know nothing about where he lives.
- तो कुठे राहतो याविषयी मला काहीही माहिती नाहीये.
वरील वाक्यामध्ये about या preposition ला जोडून where (व्हेअर) या Subordinating Conjunction ने सुरू होणारा ‘where he lives’ हा Subordinating Clause वापरलेला आहे.
त्यामुळे, या Subordinating Clause ला Noun Clause as Object of Preposition असे म्हणतात.
