नियम १

Adverb Clause of Time (अॅड्व्हर्ब क्लॉज् ऑफ् टाईम) ची रचना जेव्हा एखाद्या वाक्यामध्ये वापरलेली असते, तेव्हा ते वाक्य नेहमी Complex Sentence चे समजले जाते.

नियम २

Adverb Clause of Time मधील Subordinating Clause ची सुरूवात नेहमी पुढीलपैकी एखाद्या Subordinating Conjunction ने केलेली असते.

नियम ३

when चा Subordinating Clause

ज्या Subordinating Clause ची सुरुवात when या Subordinating Conjunction ने केलेली असते,तो Subordinating Clause एकतर Noun Clause असतो, Adjective Clause असतो किंवा Adverb Clause of Time असू शकतो.

Noun Clause

When चा संबंध जेव्हा Main Clause मधील Transitive Verb शी जोडलेला असतो, तेव्हा तो Subordinating Clause हा नेहमी Noun Clause as Object of Verb समजावा.

Adjective Clause

When चा संबंध जर Main Clause मधील एखाद्या कालदर्शक Noun शी जोडलेला असेल, तर त्या Subordinating Clause ला Adjective Clause समजावे.

Adverb Clause of Time

मात्र, जेव्हा when चा संबंध Main Clause मधील एखाद्या कालदर्शक Noun शी किंवा Transitive Verb शी जोडलेला नसतो, तेव्हा त्या Subordinating Clause ला Adverb Clause of Time असे म्हणतात.

Ex. 1
  • When you have finished your work, you may go home.
  • Main Clause :
    you may go home
  • Subordinate Clause :
    When you have finished your work
  • Adverb clause of time modifying the verb may go in the Main Clause.
Ex. 2
  • All the boys should keep quiet while she is singing.
  • Main Clause :
    All the boys should keep quiet
  • Subordinate Clause :
    while she is singing
  • Adverb clause of time modifying the verb keep quiet in the Main Clause.
Ex. 3
  • Before you go, bring me some water.
  • Main Clause :
    bring me some water
  • Subordinate Clause :
    Before you go
  • Adverb clause of time modifying the verb bring in the Main Clause.
Ex. 4
  • The doctor always comes, whenever he is sent for.
  • Main Clause :
    The doctor always comes
  • Subordinate Clause :
    whenever he is sent for
  • Adverb clause of time modifying the verb comes in the Main Clause.
Ex. 5
  • As soon as he heard the news, he contacted me.
  • Main Clause :
    he contacted me
  • Subordinate Clause :
    As soon as he heard the news
  • Adverb clause of time modifying the verb contacted in the Main Clause.
Ex. 6
  • No sooner did he see us, than he disappeared.
  • Main Clause :
    No sooner did he see us
  • Subordinate Clause :
    than he disappeared.
  • Adverb clause of time modifying the verb did see in the Main Clause.
Ex. 7
  • Hardly had I reached the station, when the train left.
  • Main Clause :
    Hardly had I reached the station
  • Subordinate Clause :
    when the train left.
  • Adverb clause of time modifying the verb had reached in the Main Clause.
